Kerstavond is in Engeland onlosmakelijk verbonden met de uitvoering van een Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols for Advent. In vrijwel elke plaatselijke kerk of kathedraal vindt wel zo'n Festival plaats. Ook in de weken vóór kerst worden regelmatig Festivals gehouden. Het Martini Jongenskoor Sneek heeft deze traditie overgenomen en viert in verscheidene kerken, in Friesland en daarbuiten, een klassieke Carol Service. Deze CD biedt een registratie van het Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols for Advent van 17 december 2003 in de Martinikerk in Bolsward.
